Many people use social media to communicate. However, have you ever wondered if your profile could affect prospective employment opportunities?

I have as I know companies now check social media sites before extending an offer to a potential employee.

According to a survey conducted by CareerBuilder, “39 percent of hiring managers use social networking sites to research job candidates, up from 37 percent last year. Forty-three percent of those hiring managers say they have found information that has caused them not to hire a candidate, up 9 percentage points from 2012.”

If you would like to know what kind of profile you are sending to an employer, please read, “Is your social networking profile costing you a job?” by CareerBuilder. You may be as surprised as I was by the answer.
