Severe Weather Possible Across Four States Area
It's April, that means Severe Weather is possible across the area this afternoon and evening.All the Four States area is in a slight risk risk area for severe thunderstorms today, with portions of Southern and Southwest Arkansas in a moderate risk for such storms. That moderate risk is to the North and East of Texarkana.
Showers and Thunderstorms are expected to erupt across the area and spread to the east northeast as the day progresses.
Here are some severe weather terms you should know:
Tornado Watch: Means conditions are favorable for the formation of severe thunderstorms that could spawn tornadoes. People should watch for rapidly changing weather conditions.
Tornado Warning: Means a tornado has actually either been spotted or is possibly detected on radar. Those in the path of the storm should take appropriate shelter, preferably inside a sound structure.
Severe Thunderstorm Watch: Means conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms that can produce, heavy rains, damaging winds, large hail and dangerous lightning. People should watch for rapidly changing weather conditions.
Severe Thunderstorm Warning. Means a severe thunderstorm, producing heavy rains, damaging winds, large hail and dangerous lightning has been detected on radar or observed by weather service personnel. Take shelter in approriate shelter, preferably inside a sound structure.
Flash Flood Watch: Means conditions are favorable for heavy rains, which could produce dangerous flash flooding or low lying areas and flood prone streets.
Flash Flood Warning: Means flash flooding is occurring in the warned area and has been observed or noted on radar. People should not try and drive through flooded streets and if necessary should seek higher ground in flood prone areas.
