The annual Veterans Day Parade and the 30th Anniversary Re-Dedication of the Korean/Vietnam Memorial will be happening next month in Texarkana.

First up, the Texarkana Area Veterans Council will be hosting the annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Texarkana on Saturday November 10 starting at 11AM. The theme for this year is World War I-100 years. All area organizations, schools, clubs, churches & businesses are invited and encouraged to participate. Call 870-773-8279 to be included in the parade line-up.

Area citizens are encouraged to come view the parade, wave your American Flag, remember the Veterans, and support the the troops.

Secondly, on Monday November 12, the Vietnam Veterans of America #278 will hold a service commemorating the 30th anniversary of the dedication of the Korea/Vietnam memorial at 7th Street and State Line Avenue in downtown Texarkana.

This memorial recognizes those veterans who were killed in action and/or listed as Prisoners of War/Missing in Action from either the Korean or Vietnam War. This includes individuals from the seventeen counties from Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, along with three parishes from Northern Louisiana.

The Veterans organization urges all Korean and Vietnam Veterans, their families, and the public to attend this re-dedication ceremony that will begin at 6PM on November 12th.
