McLarty Ford is providing much needed assistance to a hunger relief group in the New Year. The Texarkana Ford dealership donated a 2012 Ford Transit Van in support of Harvest Texarkana Regional Food Bank.

“Harvest Texarkana is a great group that helps so many people in and around our community,” said Todd Shores, owner and general manager of McLarty Ford.  “I like their passion because everybody needs a little help along the way, and that is what they do every day at Harvest Texarkana.”

The new vehicle will be used to aid in hunger relief programs, such as Harvest Texarkana’s Food Rescue Program.

“The goal of the food rescue program is to alleviate hunger while creating less food waste locally,” according to Camille Coker Wrinkle, Harvest Texarkana Executive Director.  “This generous gift will help us continue safely collecting food from area vendors and restaurants and delivering it to local partners who serve hungry, homeless and low-income individuals.

In 2014, Harvest Texarkana distributed over 100,000 pounds of perishable foods to local shelters and soup kitchens including Randy Sams Outreach Center, Domestic Violence Prevention, St. Edwards Outreach Center and the Salvation Army.

“It takes everyone in our community to drive all the non-profits in Texarkana, and Harvest Texarkana is thankful to have a partner like Todd Shores and McLarty Ford,” said Brad Davis, Board President. “The new van will allow Harvest Texarkana to be more efficient and continue to serve our local community needs through Harvest's food rescue program.”
