The Bowie County Sheriff's Office reports another drug arrest after a traffic stop on West 7th Street.

Authorities say that Deputy Shawn Martin initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 4500 block of West 7th Street while working patrol. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 42 year old James Scott McBain. Martin recognized McBain from having prior dealings with him.

However, the deputy found the suspect to be fore nervous than in previous encounters. McBain was asked for consent to search his vehicle, which he denied.

The sheriffs office did not have a canine on duty, however Officer Tanner Freeman with the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department responded with his canine Rossi. Authorities say Rossi alerted to the presence of narcotics.

Deputy Martin then searched the vehicle and allegedly found 48 grams of methamphetamine and a pipe used to smoke the drug. The suspect also was in possession of over $1,500 that was also seized when he was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance Over Four Grams and Under Two Hundred Grams.

The suspect was taken to the Bi-State Jail where his bond was set at $25,000 by Judge Al Smith.
