The Bowie County Sheriffs Office say a traffic stop on Interstate 30 yielded yet another drug arrest in our area.

 

According to the sheriffs office, this past Sunday, Deputy Nick Moses observed a black four door Chevrolet travelling westbound on Interstate 30 while failing to maintain a single lane of traffic. He conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as 40 year old Thomas Ray Brooks Jr. Brooks was recognized as a person of interest in recent alleged methamphetamine trafficking and was asked for permission to search his vehicle. Brooks consented to the search.Deputy Moses was assisted by New Boston Police Officer Rusty Hill during this search. They recovered a hypodermic syringe containing suspected methamphetamine. A more thorough search resulted in the recovery of two plastic baggies holding a substantial quantity of suspected methamphetamine that had been concealed behind an overhead console. The suspected methamphetamine weighed approximately 28 grams.Brooks Jr. was transported to the Bi-State Jail where he was booked for Possession of a Controlled Substance Over 4 Grams and Under 200 Grams. His bond was set at $20,000.00 and he bonded out of jail on May 15, 2018.
