Ashdown Junior High Principal James Jones will start the 2020-2021 school year as the Ashdown Elementary Principal.

According to a press release, Mr. Jones has previously served as librarian, 5th and 6th-grade teacher, C.D. Franks Elementary Principal, and AHS Assistant Principal. For the past 12 years, he has served as the AJHS Principal and has been a part of Ashdown Public Schools since 1999. Mr. Jones is looking forward to the opportunity of working with younger students again.

"It is going to be a challenge for combining schools, but I’m hoping parents will enjoy our efforts and will be patient with the new procedures involved. I will miss my students and staff at AJHS but I’m confident they will continue to be an achieving school.”

Ashdown Superintendent Casey Nichols said, “I am excited for Mr. Jones to be the new principal at Ashdown Elementary as it becomes the campus for our K-5 students. Mrs. Wake has done a tremendous job there and I know as she transitions into the leadership role as the assistant principal/curriculum, that they will be a wonderful team to provide the best for our students and staff.”
