Did you know that Arkansas has some of the lowest prices for gas in the United States?

With the holiday season just around the corner, most of us are making plans to travel and visit relatives but the gas prices are insane. The average price of gas in Texarkana is currently $2.95 cents a gallon according to gasbuddy.com

But did you know that we live in two great states that have the lowest gas prices in the United States?

Arkansas currently has the 6th lowest average gas price in the United States with a gallon of regular unleaded going for just $2.76 a gallon.

 Texas is listed as the fourth cheapest with a gallon of unleaded gas going for @2.73 a gallon.

At least we do not live in California. The average price for a gallon of gas is $4.16 for a gallon and in this viral video, you can see a remote town in California is selling gas for a whopping $7.59 cents a gallon!

To be clear this station in California has typically had some of the highest prices in the state and because they are so remote and the nearest gas stations are so far away they charge accordingly.

Gas is currently at a 7 year high because of rising oil prices and according to news reports will continue this climb for the foreseeable future.

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.
