Arkansas Woman Plans on Retiring After Winning $2 Million Dollars
Arkansans are starting to rack up the dough! Do you think maybe it's time we start buying more lottery tickets in the state?
Wow Just Wow!
An Arkansas woman recently claimed $220,000 in the Natural State Jackpot and now another woman has just claimed $2 million dollars in a Powerball Quick Pick game.
The $2 million Powerball prize winner from the July 17 drawing claimed her lottery winnings today at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center in Little Rock.
She lives in Jonesboro and wants to remain anonymous and I don't blame her. The winning Quick Pick was purchased at Jordan's Kwik Stop #29 in nearby Bono. The winning numbers for that night were 5, 8, 9, 17, and 41, with the Powerball being 21. The multiplier was four.
After matching the five white balls for 1 million dollars, she didn't have the Powerball number needed to win $2 million dollars so she opted for the Power Play option for an additional $1 per play that increased her winnings to 2 million dollars. The Match 5 prize with Power Play is always $2 million.
“I play the lottery a few times a year and saw advertising that the jackpot was really big, so I told my husband that I needed to purchase a ticket,” the winner told lottery officials.
According to a press release, she thought she had only won $100,000 but after having her husband, sister, and brother-in-law look over the ticket numbers she discovered she indeed had won $2 million dollars.
Can you imagine? The winner was completely stunned and I think I would be too. The couple is now planning an early retirement, paying off their home, and buying a new home on Spring River. In addition. they would also like to buy some new vehicles.
Jordan's Kwik Stop #29 will receive a commission check for 20,000 for selling the winning ticket from the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery.
The Powerball jackpot now stands at $95 million for Wednesday night. The Mega Millions jackpot has also climbed to an estimated $1.1 billion for tonight.
