Well, it looks like Arkansas is leading the nation in another statistic, divorce.

Arkansas leads the United States when it comes to the divorce rate. In an article on the   World Population Review website they had this to say about the alarmingly high divorce rate in Arkansas:

Arkansas has the highest divorce rate of any state of 10.7 divorces per 1,000. Arkansas has one of the youngest average marriage age of any state at 24.8 years for women and 26.3 years for men. Arkansas's divorce rate by age 30 is 19.5%, the highest in the U.S.

Guess what state came in second? Oklahoma and then Nevada. The reason for all of the divorces in Nevada is all of the quick marriages that people get into and the fact that you can get divorced in Nevada in just ten days compared to the typical ninety days in most of the country. The states of New Mexico and Kentucky round out the top five.

What states have the lowest rates of divorce? Well here are the top five. Maine, The District of Columbia, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, and New York. I do think it is odd that these states are mainly in the Northeast. I wonder why this is the case? Is it because they are getting married later in life? According to this article on bgsu the average age of a man getting married in New York is 31.4 the highest in the country.

How old were you when you got married? Do you think the younger you are when you get married directly affects the divorce rate?
