Betcha didn't know the entire Encyclopedia Britannica is banned in Texas because it contains a formula for making beer at home. Well that's just one of a few wacky laws in the big state of Texas.

Don't take it lightly when Texans tell you "Don't Mess With Texas".... 'cause ya really just never know if you're breaking the law.

Below are some of the weird laws in Texas according to Click2Houston...

  • A recently passed anti-crime law requires criminals to give their victims 24 hours notice.

"Hey Jim! In exactly 24 hours, I'm gonna come rob your house. I'm letting ya know in advance because I don't wanna break the law."

  • You cannot shoot a buffalo from the second story of a hotel.

"I'ma run up to the third floor and shoot this buffalo. It just wouldn't be prudent nor legal to shoot it from the second floor.'

  • It is illegal to dust any public building with a feather duster.

This clearly had to be before the days of power washing

  • The entire Encyclopedia Britannica is banned in Texas because it contains a formula for making beer at home.

Hmmmm... ban the Encyclopedia Britannica, make beer legal, but moonshine illegal. Makes a ton of sense,...

  • You cannot milk a strangers cow.

To avoid breaking the law, get to know strangers so you can milk their cow.

  • Wire cutters can not be carried in your pocket.

Wire cutters can only be carried in your sock, waist, bra or purse, absolutely NOT in your pocket. PERIOD!

  • It is illegal to sell one’s eye.

I bet that would be pretty expensive. Wonder what an ear would go for?

  • No Drinking Sipping and Standing.

In LeFors, Texas, don’t even think about taking three sips of beer at a time while standing. That there, Ma'am, is illegal!

  • Leaving your car running to warm up is illegal in Texas.

Lord knows I would be serving 99 with an L if this law was enforced.

  • No showing stockings

To avoid breaking the law in Dennison and Bristol, Texas, just don't even wear any stockings.

Well there you have it, my fellow Texans! We're all outlaws! I'm pretty sure we've all broken at least one of the wacky Texas laws above. .
