Very Touching Moment at Today’s Peace Officer Appreciation Ceremony [VIDEO]

Today at the 6th Annual Peace Officer Appreciation and Memorial Ceremony in Texarkana there was a very emotional moment as Chief Shiner presented the Police Cross to the widow, young son and mother of fallen TTPD Officer Jason Sprague.

Chief Shiner presented the Police Cross to Mrs. Sprague during the ceremony and Jason's young son, and Jason's mother was also there, it was a very touching moment.

Chief Shiner said of the Police Cross,

The award is only given posthumously, and it signifies that the recipient gave their life while honorably serving those he or she had sworn to protect and serve.

The bag pipes always give me chill bumps. Much thanks and respect go to all of our local peace officers for the work they do and the sacrifices they make for us every day, and much appreciation to their families as well. We thank you.
