UofA Hope-Texarkana Fine Arts Club Provides Troops with Care Packages
The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Fine Arts Club recently collected enough donations to supply thirty-one care packages to troops in Iraq. Also, more than $650 was donated to pay for postage to ship the packages. Farmer’s Bank & Trust of Hope, Arkansas, was especially helpful with this project, providing nearly half of the total donated items.
According to UAHT Speech Instructor Chelsea Slack, “Supporting the troops lets them know they are not forgotten.” Slack is also one of the Fine Arts Club advisers who helped organize the UAHT Supports the Troops effort. Slack continued, “It is important for us to acknowledge and appreciate that there are still troops across the world fighting for American ideals. In our day to day lives, it can be easy to overlook the sacrifice service members are making.”
“I would also like to thank the UAHT faculty, staff, and students who came together to make this year’s project a success. The Fine Arts Club could not have completed this service project without all of the extra help we received from the UAHT family,” Slack noted.
