The University of Arkansas at Hope is taking time to honor its 50-year heritage at a morning event next week in Hempstead County, Ark.

The university is inviting the community to join in a founding-day celebration coffee honoring J.W. Rowe on Wednesday, July 1, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event will feature a brief ceremony plus a Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. at the front of the administration building.
Red River Vo-Tech broke ground on July 1, 1965, for the construction of the university's administration building. The college has made many additions throughout its 50 years of service, but has strived to keep the student-focused approach that was a key element in the founding of the college.
J.W. Rowe served as director of the college from 1965 until 1987. He will be in attendance to help celebrate university's 50 years of service.
