Even though United Airlines is putting an end to their daily direct flights out of Texarkana Regional Airport to Houston next month, things are still looking good for Texarkana and our airport.

Construction on the new airport terminal is moving along and still expected to be completed in 2024.

Texarkana Regional Airport is Doing Well With American Airlines Flights to Dallas

So in the meantime here's what is happening to fill the void of the second airline. According to KSLA News the Airport Director, Paul Mehrlich, said that the American Airline flights to Dallas are still doing well with the flights being more that 70% full.

How is the Void of United Airlines Flights Going to be Handled in Texarkana?

American Airlines see the success and to further that success they are gong to bring in larger planes that have 15 more passenger seats then on the smaller jets we have now.

Mehrlich told KTBS;

“By losing that flight, we were looking at possibly having less ability to have people fly out during the holiday season, which is always really busy, and by bringing in this new aircraft, it actually takes up all the seats from United going

out.”

These bigger planes will fill the void and take up the slack of losing United Airlines.
