A couple of Texas A&M-Texarkana students are some pretty good anglers. They proved that recently.

The university fishing team finished 7th place out of 91 boats in the Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) college fishing circuit. Josh Cole and Logan Byrd attended the tournament on Sam Rayburn Lake, finishing with 14.01 pounds and qualifying for the FLW regional tournament.

The team was sponsored by Baits and Blades Tackle Shop, Cooper Tire, Santone Lures, and Dobyns Rods.

Josh Cole, team member and Vice President of the fishing club, said “These tournaments allow you to keep and weigh in the biggest out of five bass you catch. We were only 10 ounces away from being in the top five!”
Boat trouble and weather issues prevented them from pre-fishing, but Cole added “Logan [Byrd] and I didn't get to pre-fish for the tournament . . . but on tournament day, we made things work and accomplished our goal of qualifying for regionals. This gives us a chance to qualify for the national championship.”
