CHRISTUS Health, an international, not-for-profit Catholic health system, announced today that its affiliate CHRISTUS Health Ark-La-Tex has entered into a binding asset purchase agreement to acquire Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas, from Dallas-based Steward Health Care.

Here's some good news for our area right now, following Governor Abbot’s Executive Order GA-32, CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System is still able to continue providing elective procedures including outpatient surgery for most of their patients as they do not require inpatient care and do not impact our ability to care for COVID patients.

CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System demonstrated their ongoing commitment to community health with the presentation of an automated external defibrillator (AED) to the city of DeKalb, TX on Aug. 14. This donation assists personnel at DeKalb City Hall in their efforts to ensure lifesaving technology is available at the city hall and at community events such as the annual OctoberFest.
