CASA for Children advocates for some of our community's most vulnerable residents — children who are abused or neglected and are part of the child welfare system in Bowie, Cass, Hempstead, Howard, Lafayette, Little River, Nevada, and Miller counties.

CASA (which stands for court-appointed special advocates) recruits and trains volunteers to advocate for children in court and in related meetings, offering hope and a stronger voice for each child in the over-burdened court system. The volunteer advocate provides a "independent and informed recommendations to help the court make a ruling about the child’s best interest," according to the organization's website.

CASA for Children also partners with the Texarkana Children’s Advocacy Center, which provides services including forensic interviews, medical exams, and trauma-focused therapy to children who have been victims of abuse.

Your donations help both programs thrive — they literally change the lives of children. It costs about $1,500 to provide advocacy services for one child per year. CASA for Children also hosts a number of fundraisers throughout the year, including a Colorful 5K and a golf tournament. To learn more about volunteering, please visit casatexarkana.org.
