I love electronic gadgets. I’m not sure how I managed without my smart phone or my DVR, but there is one device that I just won’t do, at least not yet.

I’m talking about e-books readers. Yes, the ever so popular Kindle or Nook, whatever you want to call it, I don’t want one. I know so many people that absolutely love their Kindle. “Man, ya just gotta have one!” Yeah right, maybe someday, but not anytime soon.

I love books! Hardback or paperback, I don’t care! I love books! Real books. I love the action of opening up a new book. I love turning the pages and the feeling of a new story taking hold. I love the smell of a new book and the smell of an old much loved book. I love curling up on the couch with a book! Curling up with a Kindle just doesn’t seem right to me.

So just imagine my facial expression when I heard Stephen King announce that his next book Joyland will not be released as an e-book, at least not at first.

According to Entertainment Weekly, King said in a press release:

“I love crime, I love mysteries, and I love ghosts.  I also loved the paperbacks I grew up with as a kid, and for that reason, we’re going to hold off on e-publishing this one for the time being. Joyland will be coming out in paperback, and folks who want to read it will have to buy the actual book.”

Thank you Stephen!! Call me old-fashioned, but in this case, I will wear the badge with honor.

King’s new paperback (I just love it!) The official announcement states:

‘Joyland’ will be released next year.  Set in a small-town  North Carolina amusement park in the early ’70s. College student Devin Jones arrives to work as a carny but finds himself confronting the “legacy of a vicious murder” and the “fate of a dying child.”
