The Texas Department of Transportation will reduce the speed limit on a portion of U.S. Highway 67, known as West 7th Street in Texarkana, Texas.

Several sections of US 67 in Texarkana will have reduced speed limit signs going up on Tuesday, March 24.
The new speed zones are as follows:
  • From Whitaker Street to just west of the Texas Northeastern Railroad the speed limit will be reduced from 45 mph to 40 mph.
  • From just west of the Texas Northeastern Railroad to just west of Memorial Drive the speed limit will be reduced from 50 mph to 45 mph.
  • From just west of Memorial Drive to the Wake Village City Limits the speed limit will remain 50 mph.
Be sure and drive careful and look for new speed limit signs in these areas.
The new speed limits will not go into effect until the new signs are erected. A recent speed study conducted by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Atlanta District used an 85 percentile speed of current traffic and accident reports along the route to determine the new speed limits.
Anyone having any questions about the new speed limits can call the TxDOT Traffic Operations office at 903-799-1484 for more information.
