SAU Spring Choral Concert set for March 17 at Central Baptist Church in Magnolia, AR

Spring Choral Concert set for Tuesday, March 17 at Central Baptist Church in Magnolia, Arkansas.

The Southern Arkansas University Department of Performing Arts and Mass Communication presents A Spring Choral Concert performed by the SAU Heritage and Chamber Singers.

The performance will take place at Central Baptist Church of Magnolia on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

The concert, under the direction of Dr. Justin Nelson and accompanist Michael Womack, features music that is for, by, and about women. As part of this year’s Her Voice initiative that celebrates women in the performing arts, this performance showcases music from the past as well as music written more recently.

A highlight will be the Arkansas premiere of American composer Renee S. Waters’ “Mother Goose Suite.” This set of four nursery rhymes contains challenging music, exciting rhythms, exotic harmonies and a great deal of humor.
