Game Development students at Southern Arkansas University will be sharing the excitement and creativity of their game Return of Curiosity at the PixelPop Festival at St. Louis University, September 14-15, 2019.
Tomas Abrams, Jeffrey Guererro, Andrew Yandell, Hanna Smith, Aziztitu Murugan, Dalton Barnette, Dakota Jensen, Kyle Kenney, Jaquon Desso, Amanda Lambright, Alejandro Cornejo and Aaron Philley will be representing SAU at the festival. PixelPop is an independent game conference and expo in St. Louis, Missouri, celebrating games and their creators. It features digital, tabletop and experimental games produced nationally.

Seven games were made at SAU in January during Global Game Jam 2019. Students in the Game Development Club continued to improve and finish one of those games, Return of Curiosity, throughout the remainder of the spring semester. They submitted the game to PixelPop, and it was accepted.

“This is a big achievement for Game Development students, the SAU Game Development Club, and SAU as we have our first game to be accepted and shown in a festival,” said Rhaelene Lowther, associate professor of art.

According to the Press Release, the game and animation design programs at SAU offer students a competitive and more affordable avenue to a lucrative future developing mobile apps, 3-D designs and lifelike animations. For more information, please visit SAUMag.edu.
