The 'Run Teal There's A Cure' 5k will be on September, 24 at Spring Lake Park in Texarkana.

The month of September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and this great 5k is a chance for you to get involved. The race is presented by Newk's Cares, and this is what the company had to say about 'Newks Cares':

Ovarian cancer hits close to home for the Newk’s family. Lori Newcomb, co-founder of Newk’s Cares and wife of Chris Newcomb, founder of Newk's Eatery, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2013. We honor Lori’s legacy of turning a negative into a positive by advancing her mission to improve early diagnoses for all women.

Did you know that ovarian cancer is the 5th leading cause of death for women? 1 in 70 women will develop this disease. There will be an award Ceremony immediately following the last runner. There will be medals awarded to the overall male and female. top 3 finishers in the following age categories, 12-29, 30-49, 50+. All runners will be required to sign a waiver at the time of registration, and those under 18 must have a parent's signature.

This race will benefit the OCRA ovarian cancer research alliance. OCRA is the largest global organization dedicated to advancing ovarian cancer research while supporting women and their families. Check-in for the race is between 7:45 AM and 8:45 AM with the race beginning at 9 AM.
