The "Circle Game" is legendary among adolescent folklore and seems to have been given new life on social media. So let's discuss the rules of this awesome game that has no end.

While no one really knows the true origin of the game, I can remember playing it back in the late '70s and '80s.

What are the rules? Simple enough. The object is to form a circle with your thumb and index finger. Then you try to divert your opponents attention to the circle. If they make direct eye contact with the circle, then you get to punch them in the arm. That's, basically, it.

When I was a kid, you had to place your circle below your waist, otherwise, it didn't count. Now days, people have gotten crazy with it and throw their circle in the air, like they just don't care.

Now, if your opponent was to successfully break your circle with their index finger then they get to punch you.

Another rule is that you must divert your opponents attention to your circle. Simply placing your circle in their line of sight does not count.

With the resurgence of the circle game, people have taken their skills to social media, instead of doing it in person. For example, there's a "Where's Waldo?" meme floating around that has Waldo with the circle hand. Once you find him, you realize you've been suckered.

There are also masterfully-performed videos, like the one below, that are floating around too.

Here's another great one that I saw on Facebook.

Just remember, the circle game is back and stronger than ever. Trust no one!
