I was in high school in the late 70s when now rock legend Alice Cooper came to Barton Coliseum in Shreveport, Louisiana for his "Welcome To My Nightmare" concert tour.

Fast forward decades later and Alice Cooper is back with his new tour "Too Close For Comfort" coming to the Theater at Simmons Bank Arena in Little Rock, Arkansas just in time for the Halloween season on October 14, 2023.

The 75-year-old rock icon whose real name is Vincent Damon Furnier recalls that another rock legend Kieth Richards of The Rollings Stones fame is the only rock musician to call him by his real name.  Cooper became very popular in the 1970s with his elaborate stage show that featured props with illusions, pyrotechnics, a boa constrictor, and a guillotine that during that time was criticized for its graphic use to simulate an illusion he was beheaded. Cooper was one of the first acts to incorporate a live concert with a theatric setting that seemed more like a Broadway play that intertwined with his music and his painted facial makeup that seemed sinister, and dark, which became his trademark.

Alice Cooper released his first album in 1969 but it wasn't until 1975 that the release of the album, Welcome To My Nightmare put him on the map for good. His most notable hit came in 1972 with the summer anthem "Schools Out" which has become one of the most recognized hits of his career. Some other hits included "No More Mr. Nice Guy" and "Only Women Bleed" adding to his more than 50 million records sold.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

In 2010, Alice Cooper and his bandmates were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, according to Wikipedia.

And if you are wondering like me if Alice Cooper is planning on retiring anytime soon, I don't think so. He still enjoys touring and playing golf, believe it or not.

Sure, you have Rob Zombie, Ozzy Osbourne, and Kiss, whom all wore some type of makeup but for me, It's always been Alice Cooper. Rock on!
