There are approximately 52 state parks in Arkansas and each one of them offers something different to explore but I think Pinnacle Mountain State Park west of Little Rock is probably one of the most underrated parks when it comes to the great outdoors.

You can't help but notice the cone-shaped mountain in the distance when crossing over the Arkansas River bridge. It resembles a volcano-type mountain but history tells us it is not volcanic at all, rising more than 1,011 feet above the Arkansas River Valley.

This park is only open during the day but there are a variety of outdoor activities available on the Big and Little Maumelle Rivers nearby. The only drawback is there is no camping allowed at this park however, depending on the season kayaks and canoes are available to rent.
