Red River Lumber owner Mike Craven presented the Red River Lumber Construction Technology Scholarship on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at a ceremony in the lobby of the Nelson Administration Building. Red River Lumber is a locally-owned business that provides quality building materials and services in the construction industry.

The recipients, Justin Sheets and Cory Pitts, are both students in Texarkana College’s Construction Technology Department. The students will receive $1,000 over two semesters and will be eligible to apply for an internship with Red River Lumber.
“We are proud to award scholarships to these deserving students who I know will have promising careers in the construction field,” Craven said. Craven also serves as President of the Texarkana College Foundation.

“We are so grateful to Mike Craven and Red River Lumber for making an investment in the future of this community,” said Katie Andrus, Director of the Texarkana College Foundation. “An educated workforce is so important, and this scholarship will award students who are working hard to make a better life for their families.
