Pedestrian Injured in Early-Morning Accident
One person is hospitalized after an early-morning accident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on the Texas side.Texarkana, Texas Police are investigating the accident, which occurred in the 3900 block of West Seventh Street. Authorities say around 4:20 this morning, 32-year-old Antonio Smith, of Wake Village, Texas, was driving west in the inside lane of West Seventh Street.
Smith told police, a male ran south across the roadway near the intersection with Kilgore Street and into the path of his vehicle. Smith was unable to avoid Timothy Norris, and struck him with the front of the vehicle, causing him to be thrown 25 feet from the point of impact. Smith says he immediately stopped and called 9-1-1 to report the accident.
Twenty-six-year-old Norris of Texarkana, Texas, was transported by LifeNet Ambulance to Christus St. Michael Health System with serious injuries. He is now listed as being in stable condition.
