We've been hearing those loud explosions in the afternoon for about a week now and we had heard it was a controlled action from the Army and now we have confirmation. And get ready because we might be hearing these for a long time!

According to the press release, the Army is conducting Environmental clean-up activities via remediation contractors at the former Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant High Explosive Demolition Grounds.

Right now they are concentrating on the demolition of past military munitions-related items. All required federal rules and regulations are being followed in properly disposing of these explosives.

A source from Red River Army Depot stated to us that the explosions will go on for a few months if not longer, but it's difficult to put an exact time frame on it. The explosions will eventually decrease in frequency and intensity.

The press release went on to say "Depending on weather conditions, loud noise and vibrations may be felt in and around our communities for the next several months." said, Wendy Satterfield, Environmental Specialist II Day & Zimmerman.

A source for Red River Army Depot stated to us that the explosions will go on for a few months if not longer, but that the frequency and intensity will start to decrease.

There also could be multiple detonations in one day but they will only take place between the hours of no earlier than 9AM and no later than 4:30PM.
