Summertime is a great time for kids to enjoy camp.

The University of Arkansas at Hope has partnered with the National Park Service for the fourth consecutive year to offer a Junior Ranger Explorer Summer Camp August 4-6. The National Park camp connects young people to their national parks through many hands-on, guided, and self-guided activities.  Once again, National Park Service Rangers Tarona Armstrong and Christian Davis and U of A Hope Community Education Coordinator Nancy Kenworthy have developed an outstanding camp that is sure to be an educational and fun experience for all Junior Rangers.  The camp is open for boys and girls 10 – 13 years of age to register to attend this free summer camp.
On Tuesday, August 4, the campers will be issued their gear, which includes a t-shirt, backpack, journal, water-bottle, and a picture ID like real Junior Rangers. Once they get their gear, campers will travel to Little Rock Central High School Historic Site, tour the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library, and enjoy lunch at Café 42. On Wednesday, the students will visit the Hot Springs National Park and tour the President William Jefferson Clinton Birthplace home in Hope.
The campers will travel to the Texarkana area on Thursday to explore the Texarkana Museum of Discovery and Regional History Museum. Camp will conclude on Thursday, August 6, with a Junior Ranger graduation at 5 p.m. in the Lecture Hall of the Science/Technology Building on the U of A Hope campus. Parents, friends, and the community are invited to attend.
Registration is limited to the first 36 participants. To register your student for this camp, please pick up a registration form at the Technical and Industrial Building between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, or print the registration form by visiting the U of A Hope website at www.uacch.edu.
It is preferred that a parent or guardian of the enrolling camper return the completed form to Nancy Kenworthy at the Technical and Industrial Building on the U of A Hope Campus on Friday, July 17 from noon until 2 p.m.  If camp does not fill up within these 2 hours, registration will resume on Monday, July 20 at 7:30 a.m. and continue until all spots are filled. For more information contact Nancy Kenworthy at 870-722-8102.
