Many of you may have noticed a new sign, Hawkins Grill, on St. Michael Drive just off I-30. If you haven't heard, Texarkana is getting a new family-owned restaurant that plans on opening sometime in September.

Hawkins Grill located next to TaMolly’s in the building that was formerly Larry’s Pizza and Johnny Carinos. Hawkins Grill plans on being open 7 days a week for dine-in, carryout, and to-go orders, according to owners Michael and Deborah Stokes. Currently, the building is being renovated with a new paint job, decor, and of course, the Stokes is in the process of custom-tailoring their menu to provide a wonderful variety of entrees for families to choose from. In addition to serving up some great food such as steak, seafood, burgers, and, Mexican food, they will also have a full-service bar as well.  The Stokes have years of experience in the restaurant business and will be carefully choosing the entrees in hopes that customers will keep coming back for more.

So, you are probably wondering if their last name is Stokes, why is it named Hawkins. It's a kind of unique idea because even though the restaurant resides in Texas, part of resides in the Pleasant Grove school district. So Michael and Deborah came up with the name Hawkins, as in Hawks.

Hawkins Grill website should be up soon with all the details of their menu, their philosophy, hours of operation, and so forth. You can visit their Facebook page here.

According to their Facebook page, Hawkins Grill is now hiring for the following positions.

    • Assistant Manager
    • Restaurant Servers
    • Line Cook
    • Food Expeditor
    • Bus Person/Dishwasher
    • Host/Hostess
