You may not realize this but there are a lot of kids in our area that rely on the school system to get breakfast and lunch every day. With the schools closing Harvest Regional Food Bank needs your help in making sure those kids are still able to receive their meals. Because of the Coronavirus, Harvest is going through its food supply faster than normal. Much faster.

The best way for you to help is to make a monetary donation. They know how and where to get a bargain on food.  $1 equals 5 1/2 meals!

Camille Wrinkle with Harvest Regional Food Bank posted on their facebook page that:

We are copying other food banks around the country and will have thermometers on hand. These procedures ensure we are providing as safe an environment as possible.

We are also accepting monetary donations to help replenish our inventory of food. Each dollar you donate, provides 5.5 meals!

They are using a lot of the food bank's inventory, which normally would last for months, will only last a matter of weeks.

They shop for the food because of the nutritional requirements needed for the backpack kids and for the senior boxes as well.

With people running to the stores and buying up everything the stores shelves are empty so even less food is being donated from stores in town that donate to the food bank.

For more information or to make a monetary donation please call (870) 774-1398. You can also stop by Harvest Regional Food Bank's offices located at 3120 E. 19th Street in Texarkana Arkansas, their Facebook page or their website.
