Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced the reappointment of Therral Story of Magnolia to the Board of Trustees of Southern Arkansas University on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017.

Hutchinson initially appointed Story to fill the position left open by Board Chairman O.A. “Buddy” Franks, who passed away Sept. 21, 2015. Story’s new appointment expires Jan. 14, 2022.

Of Story’s appointment, Dr. Trey Berry, president of SAU, said, “Therral and Jan Story have been such vital people in the growth and strength of SAU. We are very excited that Gov. Hutchinson has appointed him and that Mr. Story has agreed to serve the University again in this leadership role.  His support and wise council will be key in the future prosperity of SAU."

Story and his wife, Jan, have a long relationship with SAU. The couple gave $2 million to the SAU Foundation toward construction of the Therral and Jan Story Arena. He is the owner of Therral Story Well Services, which drills oil and gas wells.
