A local Drug Take Back Day is slated for this Saturday September 29th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Texarkana, Arkansas. The event will be held at the Texarkana Arkanas School District Administration Building located at 3435 Jefferson Avenue. It's being hosted by the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Authorities say it's an opportunity for the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and tehft by ridding their homes of pontentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

You can bring your medications for disposal free of charge, anonymous, with no questions asked. Last April, Americans turned in 276 tons of prescription drugs at over 5,600 sites operated by national and state and local agencies.

Americans are now advised that their usual methods for disposing of unused medicines, flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash-both pose potential safety and health hazards.
