
DPS Increases DWI Patrols for July 4th Holiday
The Texas Department of Public Safety is increasing patrols for the July 4th Holiday Period.From June 30th through July 8th, DPS Troopers will focus DWI patrols in high-risk locations at times when alcohol related crashes are most frequent. The enhanced patrols that target impaired driving are funded through a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation.
Last year during this time period troopers made 1,406 DWI arrests. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that July 4th holiday ranks number one nationally for alcohol related fatal crashes.
