Domestic Dispute Leads to Shooting Investigation
On Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016 at approximately 7PM, officers assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division responded to an apartment complex located at 3302 Washington Street in Texarkana, Ark., in reference to a report of a physical altercation involving two women.
Information led officers to believe the altercation was a result of a domestic dispute over a man, and as this dispute began to unfold, one of the women involved contacted her family members who reside in Shreveport in an effort to arrange transportation from the scene.
When the family members arrived at the apartment complex at approximately 9:35PM, the dispute reignited, and two individuals—whom officers believe are family members of one of the dispute’s participants—exited a vehicle allegedly armed with firearms and fired multiple rounds of ammunition in the direction of parked cars where other people had gathered in the wake of the commotion.
As a result of this episode, two people were struck by bullets, victims who were subsequently treated and released from a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
This case remains under investigation, and multiple arrests for violations of the following offenses are anticipated: battery; aggravated assault; and terroristic act.
Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department at 903-798-3130.
