The MDA Telethon went down over the weekend... without Jerry Lewis, and because Jerry was booted from the telethon, I decided not to watch.  However, it's only fair to say that this years 6 hour telethon did raise 61.6 million dollars, compare to the 58.9 million dollars raised last year in the 21 hour event.

No matter who hosts the annual telethon, I don't want to take away from the importance of this cause, and the many lives that are effected for the better because of MDA.  Having said that, Jerry Lewis has been hosting the Telethon since I was just a little kid, and that was a big part of the telethon for me... and Ed McMahon too.  I mean "Jerry's Kids"... Hello?

I can't help but think that a part of the total donations this year had a little something to do with all of the hype that this would be Jerry's last telethon, announcing only a few weeks ago that he would not even be on the program, much less hosting.

This year it took four hosts to handle the hosting duties that Lewis has covered since 1966.  They were Nigel Lythgoe, Jann Carl, Allison Sweeney, and Nancy O'Dell.  The only one I am familiar with is the girl that plays "Sammie" on Days Of Our Lives... and I don't like her.  They did take a few minutes to talk about Jerry in from of some of his photos...

I hate that they booted Jerry from The Telethon, he put his personality, his career, his life to the telethon, just to turn their back on him and say we don't need you anymore... Why not just tell Grandpa to not bother stopping by for Thanksgiving this year.

I hate it that he wasn't there for it... but again, the battle against MD goes on, and they fight the good fight... but it just won't ever be the same for me.

Here's video of Jerry from 2008... "You'll Never Walk Alone"...
