The Texarkana, Texas Farmer's Market will also be set up on Texas Boulevard, selling hand-made items and Christmas trees from their tree farm. Don't forget to see the camels in the Front Street Plaza area, too.

"Something we're really excited about this year is during the entire month of December horse drawn carriage rides are going to be available for only $5," said Ina McDowell, Executive Director of Main Street Texarkana. The carriage rides will begin at 5PM each evening (weather permitting) near the red caboose on Broad Street.

McDowell added that last year there were more than 100 lighted entries for the parade and this year "it's looking like there could be more."

One of the highlights of this year's Christmas parade are the Express Clydesdales who will be pulling a magnificent stagecoach with Santa Claus on board. The coach is a replica of an Abbott Downing Company Hotel Coach, originally designed and built in 1880. The Clydesdale horses, which weigh about a ton apiece have been seen in some of the world’s most famous parades like Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, The Tournament of Roses Parade, The Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the Kentucky Derby Pegasus Parade.

They even got to Chauffeur the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate during their visit to Calgary. The Express Clydesdales also help raise money for charitable organizations like Children's Miracle Network hospitals.

The Express Clydesdale's home is a specially reconstructed barn originally built in 1936, located on the historic Chisholm Trail in Yukon, Okla. The barn is a welcome center for visitors from around the world.

So don't miss the 31st Annual Main Street Texarkana Christmas Parade at 7PM on December 7. The parade will follow the traditional parade route beginning on East Broad Street and end in front of the downtown post office.
