Check Out This Awesome Drive Thru Safari That’s A Short Drive From Texarkana

If you are a parent like me you are always looking for something for the kids to do. And now with COVID back on the rise, we are all looking for a safe and fun activity and I have the perfect little road trip for the animal lovers in your family.

Just an hour down the road in Jefferson, Texas is a very cool place to go if you love animals. The Lonesome Dove drive-thru Safari is a neat place you and the kids can visit and see and pet some awesome animals.

The Safari is easy to find it is right off of Highway 59 and is an hour's drive from Texarkana. The staff was super friendly and I want to share some insider information with you. Make sure if you can get there early right when they open.

When we arrived we were the second car through the gate and all of the animals were waiting for us. We were greeted by the buffalo and the Emu first.

The Safari route is not too long and it has two loops one outer and one inner that give you a chance to see all of the animals.

You can see the Llamas in the background of this photo soaking up the sun and enjoying a dip in the pond.

But the real highlight of the safari is the camel. He followed us around the park and was super friendly as you can see in the pictures.

And they even have a petting zoo for the littles. With a small camel, pygmy goats, an alpaca, and pigs, even some small donkeys. My little girl really had fun at the petting zoo. The newest addition to the safari is the train. It makes a loop around the park and is the perfect way to see the safari from a completely different perspective.
