A body was found along a stretch of Interstate 49 in Miller County, Ark., near Fouke Wednesday afternoon where police have been searching for a missing woman.

According to a press release from the Miller County Sheriff's Office, they were contacted around 3PM Wednesday by the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department and informed of a deceased person on I-49 near Fouke.

Investigators responded to the area and determined the body to be that of a white female. According to authorities, at this time the body has not been positively identified. The Arkansas State Police is working the incident as an active hit-and-run case.

The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy and positive identification.

Meanwhile, the Miller County Sheriff's Office release states the department is still maintaining an open missing person file on Elesa Kim Roberts. Roberts was last seen at her residence in Fouke on Tuesday April 11. Miller County Sheriff's Deputies began a missing person investigation Tuesday, which included calling upon the Bowie County Search and Rescue Team, and the Miller County Office of Emergency Services to assist in the investigation.
