Arkansas High Razorback Stadium is undergoing some renovations prior to the upcoming fall high school football season.

The district says there is power washing, caulking, and joint filling, under way prior to coating. Dirt work has just started and two building pads are completed for the concessions and restrooms on the visitors’ side. Electrical work has started with the installation of underground conduit. Pole light bases for the new 4-pole lighting system have been installed on both sides of the stadium.

Other projects included in this phase, include new concession stands and restrooms, new paved parking on 18th street, the construction of storage areas, and a Razorback Store.

Two new ticket booths will be built at the main entrance with new awnings and iron fencing.  There are also provisions being made for the possible future construction of a new press box.  This will include two towers to accommodate stairs and an elevator to meet ADA standards.

The current work is expected to be completed prior to the Razorbacks' first home football game in early September.

Razorback Stadium was built back in the early 1970s, just before Coach Swede Lee began his impressive stint, which included three consecutive state championships for the Hogs.
