Applications are being accepted for the 32nd Annual Main Street Christmas Parade to be held on Monday, December 5, at 7PM in downtown Texarkana. This year’s theme for the parade is “Letters to Santa.” All floats and entries must be light to be accepted.

Trophies will be presented in three categories for entries that best display the theme among marching bands, commercial, and non-profit groups.  A team of judges will review the entries during the parade and announce three winners in each category the next day.

The City of Texarkana, Texas Farmers’ Market will be open from 5-7PM offering holiday gifts of crafts, jams and jellies, and Christmas trees. Live music will also be played to add to the pre-parade festivities, said Ina McDowell, executive director of Main Street Texarkana. The Market is located at Texas Boulevard and Third Street.

The parade of more than 100 entries will be led by a team of live camels, ridden by local community heroes. Each year three celebrity camel riders are selected by a committee.

Entering the parade is free, however, Main Street Texarkana is a 501(c)3 non-profit and seeks donations in support of the event and its mission to revitalize historic downtown Texarkana.  Applications to enter the parade are due Friday, Nov. 25.  Applications may be submitted online to the Main Street Texarkana website.  Or, they may be picked up at the Main Street Texarkana office, 819 N. State Line Ave., in the Chamber of Commerce.
