The University Police Department at Texas A&M University-Texarkana will partner with the City of Texarkana, Texas, to host a National Night Out event on Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 6-8 p.m. at the Bringle Lake Village residence hall on the A&M-Texarkana campus, 7101 University Ave., Texarkana, Texas.

The A&M-Texarkana community is invited to join the UPD, local police officers and firefighters, and residents of Bringle Lake Village in promoting police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie in an effort to prevent crime.

The meet-and-greet networking social will include a burger and hot dog dinner. Police and fire vehicles will be on display, and there will be plenty of time for questions and answers.

National Night Out was first introduced in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch, a nonprofit organization designed to provide community watch groups with the necessary resources and assets to stay informed, interested, involved and motivated. It is celebrated across the United States and its territories, in Canada, and on military bases around the world.
