35th Annual ‘National Night Out’ Set For October 2
Nights will be getting cooler soon and that's when it's time the “35th Annual National Night Out” Tuesday, October 2 from 6PM to 9PM. This is a great opportunity to turn on the porch lights and get together with friends and neighbors.
According to the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department's Facebook page, the National Night Out has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote “neighborhood spirit” and “community partnerships”. National Night Out, a year-long community building campaign, is designed to: (1) Heighten crime prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
If you are interested in participating in this community event, please call and register your party at (903) 798-3187 or by email at kbennett@txkusa.org
Representatives from the Police Department, Fire Department, and City Hall will start their visits this year at approximately 6PM and will be available for questions. This is where you can share your concerns about police services in your neighborhood.
