October is just a few days away, so December will be here before you know it. The 16th annual Holiday Express of Kansas City Southern (KCS) will be rolling into Texarkana this year on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016. This lighted holiday magical train is expected to arrive in the KCS Rail yard from 4-9PM with Santa and his elves on board.

The KCS Holiday Express train is led by a smiling tank car named "Rudy," a flatcar that carries Santa’s sleigh, reindeer, and a miniature village. In addition, the lighted train will also feature a gingerbread box car, elves' workshop, reindeer stable, and a little red caboose. And the best part, children are able to board the train to visit with Santa Claus and his jolly elves, and tour three cars out of the six car train. Each child will receive a gift bag while exiting the train.

Because there's not much room to park near the KCS Railyard, shuttles will be available to and from Tiger Stadium at Grim Park on West 12th Street. There is no cost to the general public to view and tour the train.

The Holiday Express would not be possible without generous charitable contributions received from its employees, vendors and friends. Because of that, KCS is able to purchase gift cards that are then given to the local Salvation Army at each stop as to provide warm clothing and other items for children in need in our community.

So spread the word, Santa Claus is coming in a Boogie Woogie Choo Choo train, the KCS Holiday Express Dec. 10.  All Aboard.

To keep the Holiday Express running for future generations you can make a tax-deductible donation HERE.
