We are one step closer to having all of this daylight year-round in Texarkana.

The Senate unanimously passed the bill that would keep the United States on Daylight Saving Time year-round. Senator Patty Murray, a Democrat from the state of Washington had this to say about the proposed bill:

“So I urge my colleagues in the House to act as swiftly as the Senate — let’s get this bill on President Biden’s desk and deliver more sunshine to Americans across the country.”

I did a story last year on this permanent Daylight Saving Time bill, that at that time 19 states had proposed that the United States stay on Daylight Saving Time year-round. That means we will all have extra daylight, especially during the Summer and in our area, it means that sunset at the peak of Daylight Saving Time would be close to 9 pm.

Daylight Saving Time was created as a coal saving measure in 1918. But in our modern society, it is looked upon ad something we need to move on from and it would be easier on most of us with our sleeping habits. I don't know about you but it takes me a week or two to get used to the time change. Since we are in the spring ahead mode I don't fall asleep till way past 11 because on the old-time it is actually 10.

So are you ready for extra daylight year-round? Or would you be in favor of keeping it Standard time year-round? I for one would appreciate the extra daylight at night, rather than it being dark at 5 pm.
