‘The Waltons’ Patriarch Ralph Waite Dead at 85

Ralph Waite who played the character John Walton Sr. on the hit 1970's television series 'The Waltons' has passed away. He was 85-years-old.

Waite has been in many television shows and movies, including Cool Hand Luke, and most recently playing the part of Father Matt on daytime series "Days of Our Lives."

No cause of death was released.

This is one episode I will always remember, where he gave some advice to Johnboy...

Always pay your debts, son. Don't take unfair advantage of any man, and don't let any man take unfair advantage of you. Find yourself a good woman. Remember, your my son."
