Texas Property Owners Could be Affected in Proposed Road Projects
To help prevent the spreading of COVID-19, the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) will host a virtual public meeting on Tuesday, July 21, at 5PM to present information on the proposed improvements to US 82 in Nash and Texarkana and FM 989 in Nash.
The meeting will be on the TxDOT website at txdot.gov. Once reaching the website, the search bar can be used to search “US 82 and FM 989 Virtual Public Meeting” that will take the person to a link to access the presentation.
The proposed improvements include:
- Widening US 82 from 0.9 miles west of FM 989 in Nash to I-369 (US 59) West Frontage Road in Texarkana to include four travel lanes, a center left-turn lane, bike lanes, and sidewalks.
- Widening FM 989 from I-30 South Frontage Road to 0.1 miles north of US 82 to include four travel lanes, a center left-turn lane, bike lanes, and sidewalks.
- Realigning the intersection of US 82 and FM 989 to match traffic lanes.
The proposed project will improve safety and enhance mobility. Additional right of way will be required to construct the project and contact information for employees from the right of way division will be available to answer any questions about the process of acquiring the properties.
The meeting will begin with a welcome and instructions on how to navigate the virtual presentation which will include a virtual tour of how the project may look once it is completed. Schematics will be available online so property owners can see how the projects may affect their property. The virtual presentation will be available for viewing for 30 days. Schematics and exhibits will be posted online at txdot.gov following the public meeting.
Comment cards will be available for submitting online or printing out for mailing. Additional information about the project and meeting can be obtained by contacting Katie Martin, P.E., at 903-799-1342 or emailing Katie.Martin@txdot.gov.
