The Texas Department of Transportation would like to remind you that if you plan on commuting across the Texarkana area this week there will be several delays caused by road work or maintenance.

Wednesday, Sept. 7, FM 989 Railroad Crossing to Close for Maintenance from 6 AM to 6 PM

Motorists who normally travel FM 989/Kings Hwy in Bowie County will need to find an alternate route on Wednesday, September 7.  Union Pacific Railroad plans to conduct maintenance work on their crossing at FM 989/Kings Hwy, west of US 59 at Will Smith Rd/Wainwright Blvd. As a result, the area will be closed to through traffic on this date.

Traffic will be detoured on a signed route on US 67, US 59, and SL 151/I-369. Portable message boards will be placed near the railroad crossing beforehand to warn motorists of the scheduled road closure.  The construction schedule and road closure can change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen problems.

Thursday, Sept. 8, 6 AM - 6 PM Traffic to be detoured

Motorists who normally travel FM 2148 in Bowie County will need to find an alternate route on Thursday, September 8.  Union Pacific Railroad plans to conduct maintenance work on their crossing at FM 2148, between US 67 and US 59 at Gun Club Rd. As a result, the area will be closed to through traffic on this date.

Traffic will be detoured on a signed route on US 67, FM 989, and US 59. Portable message boards will be placed near the railroad crossing beforehand to warn motorists of the scheduled road closure.  The construction schedule and road closure can change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen problems.

Friday, Sept. 9, Railroad crossing on FM 991, Bowie County 6 AM to 6 PM

Motorists who normally travel FM 991 in Bowie County will need to find an alternate route on Friday, September 9.  Union Pacific Railroad plans to conduct maintenance work on their crossing at FM 991, between Red River Road S. and Church Street. As a result, the area will be closed to through traffic on this date.

Traffic will be detoured on a signed route on FM 991, Page, Church, and Short Streets. Portable message boards will be placed near the railroad crossing beforehand to warn motorists of the scheduled road closure.  The construction schedule and road closure can change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen problems
