The Texas High Tigers begin their playoff journey at home this afternoon at Tiger Field against highly ranked Forney.

Tiger Head Baseball Coach John McClure says Forney is very well coached and has been ranked as high as #3 in the state. McClure says they sport two dominate junior pitchers who have already committed to play for Texas A&M, when they graduate high school.

When asked what he has seen his team excel at this season, McCure said, "learning how to play together, having only two starters back from last years team, and learning how to win and finish games.

As they start the playoffs coach would like to see his team be more consistent at the plate, continue to get strong outings from their starting pitchers, and  continue to play sound defense.

McClure says they have been consistently getting good starts out of pitchers, Colby Adkins, and Walker Davis.

At the plate, look for Chris Lyles, Conner Allred, Jakob Hearne. McClure hopes his Tigers can do a better job of hitting with runners in scoring position.

McClure says to beat Forney and make a run in the playoffs the team needs to step up all three phases of the game, pitching, hitting and defense.

The Tigers will get to play the whole series at home at Tiger Field. McClure is happy about that, saying," Very important, we played much better at home this year, and it's always good to see the support of our fans."

First pitch is slated for 4PM, with the second game to follow soon after. Game three if necessary would be tomorrow also at Tiger Field.
